Slam Gear was born purely by accident and misadventure. It started with a life-long passion for fishing, and a desire to remain close to the outdoors.  It was all about the camaraderie, glamorous fish stories, and the indescribable euphoria that could only come from being out on the water.

Over time it became apparent that, in spite of all the pre-planning, seminars and scouting reports, most outings were not playing out like the show we saw on TV last Saturday. Fishing had grown increasingly frustrating and stressful (tangles in the outriggers, missed casts, running aground, no bait…worse yet no beer!). We were losing sight of the real reasons we were out there to begin with…to laugh, have fun and relax.

Something different was needed. Something that could add glamour and prestige to the times when “trash fish” were the only catch of the day, and all you could fill the fish cooler with was empty beer cans. This epiphany soon became the founding philosophy of what is now Slam Gear.

While we still take fishing seriously, it’s the light-hearted attitude that makes Slam Gear unique.
